Trachsel Back with the Cubs His uniform number is different, and he's a little older, but Steve Trachsel is back where he started, and he has some unfinished business left with the Cubs.
Trachsel, 36, who was the Cubs' eighth-round Draft pick in 1991, pitched in Chicago from 1993-99. He won the Cubs' one-game playoff for the 1998 National League Wild Card and is happy to be back at Wrigley Field.
As of Sept. 1, it had been 2,890 days since Trachsel last pitched for the Cubs. His first start will put him fourth on the all-time list of most days between games started as a Cubs pitcher. His first win will put him third in team history for most days between victories, behind Greg Maddux and Fergie Jenkins. |
