Default Cubs vs Marlins 9-27 @ 3:05pm CT

The Florida Marlins spoiled the Cubs' bid to get to the World Series in 2003. They seem intent on ruining the Cubs' 2007 season, too.

The Marlins have a chance to complete a three-game sweep of the Cubs on Thursday in the series finale. Steve Trachsel will start for Chicago, getting the call because of his success against Florida. He was 3-0 with a 2.00 ERA last year while with the New York Mets.

Trachsel (7-10) will be making his first start since Sept. 13, vs. Houston. In that game, he gave up two runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings and struck out four. Trachsel was bumped as the Cubs went to a four-man rotation for the stretch run. He threw a simulated game on Saturday to tune up for the game in Miami

Scott Olsen (9-15) An example of just how much bad luck Olsen has had this season came in the left-hander's last start. Consider he gave up eight runs to the Mets, yet his ERA dipped from 6.06 to 5.88. That's because all eight runs were unearned, a team record for most unearned runs in a game. With 15 losses, Olsen matches Dontrelle Willis for the team high. He has dropped six straight since beating Houston on Aug. 5.

Very hard to determine who the last place team is....are the Cubs just destined to lose for all of eternity?

Very hard to deny the " billy goat " theory as much as i hate that notion
