| Chelsea reached an agreement to buy Sevilla defender Daniel Alves Tuesday, reportedly paying about €33 million (US$45 million) for the Brazil right back. The transfer also included Alves agreeing to a four-year contract to play at Stamford Bridge.

He made the right choice in turning down Chelsea, a club with absolutely no soul whatsoever Abramovich has turned the celery chuckers into a footballing superpower, but its unquestionably built on quicksand, it will come crashing down llike a house made of playing cards English Football is enjoying a purple patch at the monet in terms of European domination but unlike Real Madrid, AC Milan, Juventus, Barcelona, Internazionale, they have to many clubs that are short term competitors Scum (aka Manchester United) last week posted losses of 40 million pounds stirling, a figure that would have been 80 million if it werent for the sale of that greasey Portuguese diving cheat Christiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid and Liverpool cant even afford to fire Rafa Benitez despite the fact that he has turned them into a laughing stock as it would cost more than they have to get rid of him English footballs shining light at the present is Manchester City, bought by Saudi oil Barons with more money than sense, they have recently turned their cash investment in the Eastlands based club into equity which suggests that they are in it for the long haul My club, Leeds United are one of the very few debt free clubs in English football which suggests once we get within touching distance of the premier league there will be a lot of interest in a team based in a one club city which also happens to be one of the biggest cities in England Its simple really, Sky TV have ruined English football, what used to be the game of the working class has become a middle class obsession, players salaries are out of control as are transfer fees and the only way this can ever be rectified is by introducing a salary cap and guidlines to control the spending power of Europes super clubs UEFA are trying to impliment plans that would see clubs living beyond their means being disqualified from competing in The Champions League, but they fear the money making clubs would form a breakaway league and leave them without a pot to piss in Investment in grass roots football is the way forward, producing your own talent through your academy, but, this too is another sore point... My club Leeds United for example have one of the finest academies in Europe with a proven track record of producing talent, but whats the sense in clubs in the lower divisons moulding a player for the first team when once they reach 16/17/18 they are lured away by the mega rich clubs?? This has to stop, its creates an uneven playing field and the sad thing is that most of these kids end up either sitting on the bench or being released because the first team coach would prefer to spend 30 million pounds on a Italian/Spanish striker The game isnt what is was when i was a kid and its rotten to the core, the authorities care only for the big clubs and to hell with the rest Last edited by LeedsUtdCubbie; 01.18.2010 at 05.24 PM. |
